About the event

An Invitation

This year-long programme is the second year of our Contemporary Animism Apprenticeship, and open to those who have completed Year 1.

It builds on the rich conversation we have already started but goes deeper yet into our felt experience of relating and working with the spirit and magic of place, influenced by the thinking and the practices of South African indigenous traditions and the Brethonic Tradition of the British Isles. Along the way we will be drawing on contributors from other traditions and perspectives, sharing together our own experiences, and all the while deepening and cultivating for ourselves an animate worldview and ways of living for modern times. We will be looking closely at how to build and support our own animistic practice, whether that is for ourselves or out in our communities. Our work here is revolutionary – we are sacred activists seeking to move in the direction of beauty, in service of all creatures, for the conscious evolution, remembering, rebalancing and re-belonging of our own species within the world.

Your Guides

The lead guides of this apprenticeship are Colin Campbell and Angharad Wynne. The programme is curated by Rachel Fleming.

Colin works with the wisdom traditions of South Africa, specifically those that are based on our relationships with the ancestors and spirits of nature. He looks at where these ancient indigenous practices collide and coalesce with the knowledge and belief systems of the west.

Angharad teaches from the old Brythonic tradition of the British Isles, the spirit ways of the ancestors of this land, and how we can recover and remember them to help us restore balance in ourselves and with the world around us.

Rachel has worked with animist education for many years, designing and delivering educational programmes for Schumacher College, University of Wales Trinity St Davids, Lampeter and Embercombe, with a focus on the meeting point between ecology and ‘spirituality’.

They will be joined by leading practitioners from around the world and you, as you bring your own experiences and explorations to share.
