About the event
The Matter of Britain, the body of Medieval literature and legendary material, much of which has roots stretching back into the mists of our Celtic and Bronze Age past, are rich in symbols, ancient lore and tantalising glimpses of an old spiritual glimmering with magic and a deep reverence of nature. The Mabinogi, in particular, hold rich, ancient lore and were probably teaching stories, aspects of which were part of a rich oral storytelling tradition that developed over millennia before these tales were set down in ink. Despite their antiquity, they continue to hold profound story-medicine for us today.
In this first Tuesday evening salon in this series, Angharad will offer different ways of understanding animals and their interaction with characters from literary, mythological, archaeological and cultural perspectives to explore this fragile thread that weaves throughout this early mythic matter. Then, it's over to you to discuss and share further…
