About the event

We have been gathering around fires during the midwinter season here in Britain for over five thousand years - and for good reason: we need company and conviviality to keep us going through the darkest part of the year. So we thought we'd light a fire and gather to it at beautiful Dinefwr. Please come and join violinist Simmy Singh, storyteller and author Angharad Wynne and singer Bethan Lloyd for a gloriously restorative midwinter evening of traditional stories, music and song to celebrate the darkness of midwinter and the returning light. The 17th of December is the old Twelfth Night, based on the Gregorian calendar that was replaced by the Julian calendar in 1752, and so it's as good a time as any to gather to sweep away January blues and sustain us through these long nights.
